Boujdour: The Official Inauguration of the ISTA
The Specialized Institute of Applied Technology (ISTA) in Boujdour was officially inaugurated on Monday after significant renovation and expansion work aimed at modernizing its infrastructure and broadening its training offerings.
The ceremony was presided over by Loubna Tricha, the General Director of the Office of Vocational Training and Labor Promotion (OFPPT), in the presence of the provincial governor, Ibrahim Ben Ibrahim, as well as several elected officials and local stakeholders. This inauguration is part of the celebrations marking the 50th anniversary of the Green March.
An Investment of 33 Million Dirhams for a New Generation of Institutions
The renovation and expansion project, with a total cost of 33 million dirhams (MDH) — 14 MDH allocated for the facilities and 19 MDH for equipment — aims to enhance OFPPT’s training offerings in the southern provinces of the Kingdom.
This new ISTA exemplifies OFPPT’s ongoing commitment to developing skilled competencies and supporting regional economic growth. Established in 1982 as a Professional Qualification Center (CQP) and transformed into an ISTA in 2009, the institute is part of an integrated upgrade project for the OFPPT training system, in line with the national roadmap for vocational training development.
A Modern Infrastructure Tailored to Market Needs
Spanning a total area of 6,195 m², with 2,284 m² covered, the ISTA in Boujdour can accommodate up to 1,064 trainees annually in diploma and qualification programs, with 785 places available for the first year.
The institution offers 16 training pathways that cater to regional market needs, covering areas including:
- Management and Commerce
- Electrical Engineering
- Building and Public Works (BTP)
- Personal Services
- Automotive Repair
This updated offering aims to prepare young individuals for future careers in tune with technological and economic developments in the region.
High-Tech Workshops and a Stimulating Learning Environment
The ISTA in Boujdour features modern and interactive pedagogical spaces, including:
- A building electricity workshop
- An industrial maintenance workshop
- A mechanical manufacturing workshop
- An aluminum joinery workshop
- An automated systems workshop
- An automotive repair workshop
Additionally, there are multimedia rooms, a library, a career guidance center, and a dedicated space for the Entrepreneurial Innovation Program (PIE).
The facility also includes language and soft skills rooms, enabling youth to strengthen their linguistic, digital, and behavioral competencies.
OFPPT Strengthens Its Network in the Southern Provinces
As part of its efforts to enhance training offerings in the Southern Provinces, OFPPT is planning to accommodate a total of 22,233 training places by the 2025/2026 academic year, which includes:
- 13,318 for diploma training
- 7,615 for qualification training
- 1,300 for professional pathways
OFPPT’s training network in this region now comprises 16 institutions, 3 Cities of Trades and Skills, 5 centers in correctional facilities, and the Mohammed VI National Center for the Disabled.
