Renault Reports a “Strong” Commercial Performance in 2025 with a “Dominant Position” in the French Market

French automotive group Renault has announced that it has emerged from 2025 with a “solid” commercial performance, securing a “dominant position” in the French market, as stated by the automaker on Friday.

With a total of 387,048 sales (including both passenger and utility vehicles) in 2025, Renault further solidifies its status as the leader in the French automotive market. The company’s market share rose to 19.4%, a 0.8-point increase in a market that saw an overall decline of 5.1%, totaling 1,992,658 units, according to a company press release.

The Renault Clio remains the best-selling vehicle in France, with 115,047 units sold, marking an 11.9% increase compared to 2024, and accounting for 5.8% of the French market, the source added.

In a growing electric vehicle sector, which expanded by 13.7%, Renault topped the sales charts with 81,004 units sold, reflecting a staggering increase of 46.5%. The company’s market share in this segment rose to 22.4%, a 5-point rise from 2024.

The Renault 5 E-Tech electric model has emerged as the top-selling electric vehicle in France for 2025, with 40,383 registrations and an 11.2% market share.

“2025 has been a pivotal year for Renault in France: we have consolidated our leadership, accelerated our product offensive, and confirmed the momentum of our electrification strategy,” said Guillaume Sicard, Renault France’s Commercial Director, as cited in the release.

“We are entering 2026 with ambition, determined to continue supporting all types of mobility and making sustainable transportation accessible to the greatest number of people,” he emphasized.

In the full hybrid market, which increased by 10.5%, Renault stood out with 133,190 units sold in 2025, reflecting a 14% increase and boosting its market share to 38.2%, an increase of 1.2 points compared to 2024, according to the same source.
