Morocco and African Cooperation for Strong Cybersecurity

Morocco’s Commitment to Strengthening African Cybersecurity Cooperation
Morocco is firmly dedicated to enhancing African cooperation to address the pressing challenges of cybersecurity, a critical issue for the continent. During the opening of the African Cybersecurity Forum, Abdellatif Loudiyi, the Minister Delegate to the Head of Government in charge of National Defense Administration, emphasized this commitment, stating that the Kingdom is working towards a “robust and coordinated” collaboration with African nations to confront threats in cyberspace.
Held from February 3 to 5 in Rabat, the forum is intended as a platform for reflection and exchange aimed at bolstering Africa’s cybersecurity capabilities. Minister Loudiyi clarified that Morocco, in alignment with the vision of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, views the continent’s development as reliant on solidarity and cooperation, particularly within the South-South partnership framework. In this regard, Morocco has launched several significant projects, including the Atlantic Initiative for the Sahel, the Nigeria-Morocco Gas Pipeline, and the Dakhla Atlantic Port.
In the specific realm of cybersecurity, the Kingdom is placing particular emphasis on enhancing skills in artificial intelligence and cloud computing to support African countries in tackling digital challenges. Loudiyi commended the efforts made by Arab and African nations in establishing appropriate infrastructures to counter cyber threats, calling for increased cooperation to secure the continent’s digital infrastructures.
The African Cybersecurity Forum, themed "Trustworthy Artificial Intelligence and Cloud: A Pillar for Strengthening Cybersecurity," brings together Moroccan and international experts, government officials, business leaders, cybersecurity professionals, and researchers. The objective is to discuss the strategic issues related to digital transformation and securing cyberspace in Africa, a vital sector for the continent’s future.
