The Vice President of the House of Representatives, Mohamed Ghayate, received the President of the Andean Parliament, Gustavo Adolfo Pacheco Villar, in Rabat on Wednesday. Pacheco Villar is on a working visit to Morocco leading a significant delegation.
During the meeting, Mr. Ghayate expressed his gratitude for the ongoing support of the Andean Parliament regarding Morocco’s territorial integrity. He emphasized the strong ties between the Moroccan and Andean parliaments and highlighted the House of Representatives’ commitment to further deepening these relationships.
He also underscored Morocco’s remarkable position on the international stage, under the enlightened leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, who advocates for South-South cooperation, solidarity, and collective action in service of mutual interests.
For his part, Mr. Pacheco Villar reaffirmed the unwavering support of the Andean Parliament for Morocco’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, while also noting the dynamic development the Kingdom is experiencing across various sectors.
Additionally, he highlighted that common challenges faced by both legislative institutions, particularly in areas such as security, migration, energy, climate change, and artificial intelligence, necessitate enhanced cooperation.
Members of the Andean parliamentary delegation, including Sara Kattya Condori, Manuel José Ossandon, and Oscar Darío Pérez, expressed their admiration for Morocco’s economic growth and the significant projects undertaken, particularly in the fields of infrastructure and transportation.
As an observer member and advanced partner of the Andean Parliament, Morocco actively participates in this body, which was established on October 25, 1979. This parliament brings together the peoples of five Andean countries: Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, and Chile, working to harmonize legislation, strengthen cooperation among the parliaments of member states, support participatory democracy, and promote regional integration.
