A 15th Edition Rich in Culture

Opening of the 15th Regional Book and Publishing Fair in Dakhla
The 15th edition of the Regional Book and Publishing Fair in Dakhla was inaugurated on Wednesday evening, an initiative by the Regional Directorate of Culture for Dakhla-Oued Eddahab. This major event in the regional cultural calendar will run until December 3, coinciding with the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Green March and the 70th anniversary of Independence Day.
A Fair Dedicated to the Promotion of Books and Reading
Organized with the support of the Directorate of Books, Libraries, and Archives, in partnership with the local governance and elected bodies, this edition brings together around thirty exhibitors. Participants include national publishing houses, local and national bookstores, as well as various institutions dedicated to the book and reading sectors.
In a statement to MAP, Mamoun El Boukhari, the regional director of culture, highlighted the significance of this event, which honors books, publishers, and the reading public. He also praised the presence of exhibitors from different regions of the Kingdom, offering a diverse and accessible selection.

Over 20,000 Titles on Display to Promote Reading
Each year, the fair offers approximately 20,000 books to the public, covering a wide range of disciplines. The central aim of this event is to enhance the culture of reading, support authors, and bring the world of books closer to citizens, especially the youth.
A Rich and Diverse Cultural Program
The 2024 edition features a comprehensive program that includes:
Fun and educational activities for children
Thematic conferences and intellectual discussions
Book signings by their authors
Literary and poetry evenings
These activities aim to invigorate the regional cultural scene and encourage literary creation.
The Center for Education Professions as Guest of Honor
The official launch took place in the presence of the Secretary General of Regional Affairs for the Dakhla-Oued Eddahab province, along with elected officials, local authority representatives, and civil society actors. This edition welcomes the Regional Center for Education Professions and Training (CRMEF) as the guest of honor, reflecting the crucial role of education and training in the cultural development of the region.
