Africa Cup of Nations 2025: CAF Announces Decision Following Morocco-Senegal Final

The Disciplinary Commission of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) has announced its decisions regarding the incidents that occurred during the final of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, which took place in Morocco between Morocco and Senegal.
Sanctions Against the Senegalese Federation
Coach Suspension: Bab Bouba Diaw, the coach of Senegal, has been suspended for five official CAF matches due to unsporting conduct, violation of fair play, and damaging the integrity of football.
Financial Penalties: The coach has been fined $100,000. The Senegalese Federation has been penalized with $300,000 for the inappropriate behavior of its supporters, and an additional $300,000 for the unsporting conduct of its players and technical staff, alongside a fine of $15,000 for disciplinary infractions following five warnings to its players.
Player Suspensions: Elimane Cheikh Baroy Ndai and Ismaïla Sarr have each been suspended for two official matches due to unsporting conduct towards the referee.
Sanctions Against the Royal Moroccan Federation
Player Suspensions: Achraf Hakimi has been suspended for two official matches (one of which is deferred for one year), and Ismaïl Sibaari has received a three-match suspension for unsporting behavior.
Financial Penalties: The Moroccan Federation has been fined $200,000 for the behavior of ball boys, $100,000 for the players and technical staff entering the VAR area and obstructing the refereeing process, as well as $15,000 for the use of lasers by supporters.
Rejection of Moroccan Appeal
The Disciplinary Commission also rejected the appeal from the Royal Moroccan Federation concerning an alleged violation by Senegal of Articles 82 and 84 of the AFCON regulations during the final.
