Akram Roumani Appointed as the New Coach of Maghreb de Fès

Moroccan technician Akram Roumani has been appointed as the new manager of the Maghreb de Fès (MAS) football team, as announced by the club on its social media channels.

Having taken over on an interim basis since late December following the departure of Italian coach Arena Guglielmo, Roumani has signed an 18-month contract with his former team. Under his provisional leadership, MAS managed to climb to fourth place in the Botola Pro Inwi D1 rankings with a total of 32 points.

Akram Roumani, who played for Maghreb de Fès during the 1996-1997 season, later joined the Belgian first division club Genk in 2000. With Genk, he won his second championship title in 2002 and competed in the Champions League. He also played for the Dutch team Roosendaal after his time in Belgium.

Roumani made history with the national junior team in 1997 by winning the Africa Cup and participating in the 2000 Olympic Games. He was also selected for the Africa Cup of Nations in 2002 and 2004 in Tunisia.

Before taking charge of the team, Roumani served as an assistant coach under MAS trainers Abdelhay Ben Sultan from Tunisia and Arena Guglielmo from Italy.
