An Evening in Tribute to Poet Abdellah Zrika

The House of Poetry in Morocco and the Anfas Association for Culture and Art are organizing an evening in tribute to Moroccan poet Abdellah Zrika. This event honors his remarkable creative journey, which stands as a shining reference in the landscape of contemporary Moroccan poetry.
Scheduled for Sunday, May 4, 2025, at 7 PM, the evening—held in partnership with the Mohammed V National Theatre—will feature the following activities:
– Opening speech by the House of Poetry in Morocco;
– Poetry readings by Abdellah Zrika;
– Book signing session for “Houm: My Body, What Remains of Writing – Studies, Insights, Testimonials;”
– Performance of the play “Houm,” inspired by texts from Abdellah Zrika, directed by Asmaa Houri and produced by the Anfas Theatre troupe.
It is important to note that Abdellah Zrika is a poet, novelist, and playwright. Since his first collection, “The Dance of the Head and the Rose” (1977), he has embraced a unique poetic voice marked by dialogue, erasure, risk, and an approach that transcends the conventions of structure, lexical purity, and the nobility of message. His poetic works include: “The Laughter of the Language Tree,” “Stone Flowers” (1983), “The Apple of the Triangle” in collaboration with artist Abbas Saladi (1985), “Black Butterflies” (1988), “Mended Gaps with a Thread of Sun” (1995), “The Insect of Infinity” (2003), “The Needle of Existence” (2008), “The Turtle of Erasure” (2018), and “The Intoxication of Erasure” (2020).
