Assessment of Business Creation in Morocco in 2024

At the end of November 2024, Morocco recorded the establishment of 86,493 new businesses, according to data provided by the Moroccan Office of Industrial and Commercial Property (OMPIC). This achievement reflects a diversity in the types of entities created, including 61,819 legal entities and 24,674 individual entrepreneurs, as indicated by OMPIC’s barometer.

From a sectoral perspective, commerce leads the way, accounting for 34.99% of new business creations, followed by the construction and real estate sectors (19.33%), various services (18.29%), transportation (8.03%), and industries (7.29%). Additional sectors such as hospitality and catering (5.62%), information and communication technology (ICT) (2.80%), financial activities (1.97%), and agriculture and fishing (1.68%) also contribute to the overall distribution.

Geographically, the Casablanca-Settat region stands out prominently, with 27,070 businesses established, followed by Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima (12,627), Rabat-Salé-Kénitra (10,007), and Marrakech-Safi (9,741). Other regions such as Fès-Meknès (5,994), Souss-Massa (5,894), and Oriental (5,131) also show significant numbers. The regions with the least representation in terms of business creation are Guelmim-Oued Noun (702) and Dakhla-Oued Ed-Dahab (1,434).

Regarding the legal forms of businesses, the single-member limited liability company (SARL AU) is the most preferred choice, representing 64.8% of new registrations, followed by the limited liability company (SARL) at 34.6%.

These results indicate a notable dynamism in business creation, reflecting Morocco’s commitment to promoting entrepreneurship and diversifying its economy.
