Bayern Munich Plans to Recall Adam Aznou for the Club World Cup

Bayern Munich may end Adam Aznou’s loan to Real Valladolid prematurely to include him in their squad for the Club World Cup. This possibility was confirmed by the club’s sporting director, Christoph Freund, during a press conference.

“Of course, the plan is for him to potentially join the team for the Club World Cup,” Freund stated. The 18-year-old defender, initially loaned to Valladolid until June 30, could be recalled thanks to a special transfer window that will open from June 1 to June 10. This period will allow participating clubs, including Bayern, to modify their rosters ahead of the tournament, scheduled to begin on June 14 in the United States, following the conclusion of Valladolid’s season.

With injuries to Alphonso Davies and Dayot Upamecano, Bayern’s defense has been weakened. Hiroki Ito and Raphael Guerreiro are currently the main options for the left-back position, but Aznou could serve as an intriguing alternative for the German club during the global competition.

The young defender, who had only played 17 minutes with Bayern’s first team at the beginning of the season, was loaned to Valladolid this winter to gain more playing time. This loan has proven to be fruitful, as Aznou has now become a regular starter at the Spanish club.

“For him and his personal development, these are very important steps that he is currently taking,” Freund added. “We are pleased with this decision, and the coming weeks will be crucial for him to accumulate as many minutes on the field as possible,” he concluded.
