Bouregreg-Chaouia Basin: Reservoirs Show an Average Filling Rate of 88.31%

Average Water Reservoir Level Reaches 88.31% in Bouregreg-Chaouia Region
As of January 2, the average filling rate of dams managed by the Bouregreg-Chaouia Hydraulic Basin Agency (ABHBC) stands at 88.31%, reflecting an overall reservoir capacity of 978.01 million cubic meters (Mm³) against a normal total capacity of approximately 1.1 billion Mm³.
According to data released on the ABHBC website, the total reservoir level has increased by 52.1 points year-on-year, amounting to a gain of 577 Mm³, compared to 401 Mm³ with an average rate of 36.21% on the same date last year.
Breaking it down, the Sidi Mohammed Ben Abdellah dam holds a reserve of 919.218 Mm³ (normal capacity 974.788 Mm³), resulting in a filling rate of 94.3%, up from 368.907 Mm³ (37.84%) a year earlier.
The Tamesna dam now totals 25.26 Mm³ (44.32%), compared to 16.607 Mm³ (29.14%) at the same time last year, while the El Mellah reservoir has reached 20.172 Mm³ (57.63%), compared to 10.331 Mm³ (29.52%).
Regarding the Aïn Kouachia dam, it reports a reserve of 11.26 Mm³, equating to a filling rate of 102.36%, up from 4.03 Mm³ (36.64%) on January 2, 2026.
