Brahim Diaz Enters History with the Atlas Lions at AFCON 2025

Historic Achievement for Brahim Diaz
By scoring a goal in each of the first four matches of the Morocco-2025 Africa Cup of Nations, Brahim Diaz has etched his name into the annals of Moroccan football history.
He becomes the only player to accomplish this feat, surpassing the legend Ahmad Faras, who netted three goals during the 1976 AFCON. Diaz also leads the temporary goal-scorer rankings, ahead of Ayoub El Kaabi and Algerian captain Riyad Mahrez.
Four Matches… Four “Man of the Match” Awards
The individual performances of the Atlas Lions have also stood out. In the first four matches, Brahim Diaz (twice), Neil El Aynaoui (once), and Ayoub El Kaabi (once) were named “Man of the Match.”
These accolades reflect their decisive impact on the team’s collective success under the direction of coach Walid Rergragui, who continues to pursue his ultimate goal.
Record Attendance for Morocco-Tanzania Match
The round of 16 match between Morocco and Tanzania was played in front of 63,894 spectators, setting a new attendance record for a match in the 2025 AFCON.
This unprecedented figure demonstrates the enthusiasm of the public surrounding the national team and the fans’ deep connection to the Atlas Lions.
Mali Advances to Quarters Without a Win
Mali has qualified for the quarter-finals despite an unusual performance: no victories in the group stage and advancing after a penalty shootout against Tunisia following a draw (1-1) in regulation time.
This rare situation highlights the discipline and tactical patience of the Malian Eagles.
