On Saturday morning, a four-story residential building collapsed in Delhi, the capital of India, resulting in at least 11 fatalities, among whom were three children, according to local media and authorities.
The incident occurred at dawn while residents were asleep in the building, located in a northeast neighborhood of the city. Rescue teams worked tirelessly throughout the day, sifting through the debris in search of survivors.
"Eleven people were rescued alive by the rescue teams, but another eleven were declared dead," reported the NDTV channel. The injured were rushed to the hospital, where five of them are currently receiving treatment, while the other six were able to return home after receiving medical care.
Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has ordered an investigation into this tragic incident and promised severe penalties for those responsible for the collapse.
