CAN 2025: The Atlas Lions Confident and Focused Ahead of Clash with Zambia

Moroccan Football Team Finalizes Preparation for CAN 2025 Group Stage Match Against Zambia
The Moroccan national football team wrapped up its preparations on Sunday at the Mohammed VI Football Center in Maâmoura, ahead of their final group stage match in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) against Zambia. This match, which is set for Monday at 8:00 PM at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat, marks the third day of competition in Group A.
Currently leading their group with four points, the Atlas Lions approach this encounter with a clear objective: to maintain first place and continue their journey in the tournament capital.
All players participated in this final training session, except for Romain Saïss, who remains in recovery and trained separately. Despite this absence, the atmosphere within the team was relaxed and positive, boosted by reassuring statements from coach Walid Regragui during the press conference, particularly regarding the potential participation of Achraf Hakimi against Zambia.
“We are calm and confident. This group possesses a great deal of quality, and we have prepared well to seek those three points,” declared Bilal El Khannous, urging fans to continue their strong support for the national team.
Meanwhile, Ilias Akhomach stressed the challenges that lie ahead: “There are no easy matches in the Africa Cup. We know it will be difficult, but we are ready.” He also highlighted that dealing with pressure is a fundamental part of such competitions and that the players are equipped to handle it.
Goalkeeper Munir El Kajoui remarked that the group continues to work diligently, emphasizing the team’s progression match by match: “We know we can do better, and we are working toward that. Every match is a trial from which we must learn.”
After two matchdays, Morocco sits atop Group A with 4 points, followed by Mali and Zambia with 2 points each. The Comoros are at the bottom with 1 point. Mali and the Comoros will face off on Monday at 8:00 PM at the Mohammed V Complex in Casablanca.
