CAN U17: Morocco and Burkina Faso Reach Semi-Finals After Outstanding Victories

On Thursday, the Moroccan U17 team secured its place in the semi-finals of the Africa Cup of Nations by defeating South Africa (3-1) in the quarter-final held at El Bachir Stadium in Mohammedia.

The Atlas Lions took the lead thanks to Ismail El Aoud in the 13th minute, before Neo Bohloko equalized for South Africa in the 54th minute. Morocco quickly regained the advantage with a brace from Ziyad Baha, scored within two minutes (61st and 62nd).

Meanwhile, Burkina Faso also secured its spot in the semi-finals by overpowering Zambia (6-1) at El Arbi Zaouli Stadium in Casablanca. The Burkinabe goals came from Mohamed Fofana (11th), Asharaf Tapsoba (penalty goals at the 21st and 77th minutes, and a goal at the 90th), and Halidou Diakité (58th, 68th). Abel Nyirongo (35th) scored a consolation goal for Zambia.

The other two quarter-finals will take place on Friday:

  • Ivory Coast vs Senegal at the municipal stadium of Berrechid,

  • Tunisia vs Mali at El Abdi Stadium in El Jadida.

The semi-finals promise to be thrilling, with teams in top form and a high level of competition.
