CAN U17 (Group C – Matchday 1): Senegal Dominates Gambia 1-0, Kicking Off Their Campaign Perfectly
The Senegalese national team, the reigning champions, started the Africa U17 Cup of Nations with a victory over Gambia (1-0) on Tuesday at the El Abdi Stadium in El Jadida. Ibrahima Sow secured the win for the Young Lions by scoring the only goal of the match in the 7th minute.
In the other match of Group C, Tunisia is set to face Somalia at 17:00 GMT.
This edition of the U17 CAN features 12 teams divided into four groups. In addition to the continental title, the tournament also serves as a qualifier for the FIFA U17 World Cup, scheduled to take place this year in Qatar.
The top two teams from each group will advance to the quarter-finals and secure their spot in the World Cup. Two additional places will be decided through playoffs involving the best third-placed teams from the groups.
