Casablanca: Officer Assaulted by Motorcyclist, Suspect in Custody

The police judicial brigade of the Casablanca – Rahma security zone has launched a judicial investigation, overseen by the competent prosecutor’s office, to determine the criminal actions attributed to a 27-year-old motorcyclist. He is suspected of riding on a restricted road, failing to comply, and committing deliberate violence against an on-duty police officer.
The Incident
According to the investigation data, confirmed by a video circulating on social media, the suspect intentionally struck a police inspector while the officer was regulating traffic at the entrance of the Rahma neighborhood during peak hours just before the breaking of the fast on the first day of Ramadan.
The investigation revealed that the police officer was caught off guard by the motorcyclist, who was riding on a bus-only lane (“Busway”), which is prohibited for two-wheeled vehicles. Despite the order to stop, the suspect refused to comply and continued driving, colliding with the officer and causing him injuries.
Actions Taken
The injured officer was transported to the hospital for necessary treatment. As for the suspect, he has been placed in custody pending further investigation by the prosecutor’s office to clarify all the circumstances surrounding this case.
