Casablanca Stock Exchange Closes on a Dismal Note
The Casablanca Stock Exchange wrapped up trading on Friday with a subdued sentiment, as its main index, the MASI, declined by 0.07% to settle at 19,845.09 points.
The MASI 20, which comprises the 20 most liquid stocks in the market, experienced a more significant drop of 0.26%, reaching 1,621.58 points. Meanwhile, the MASI ESG index, showcasing companies with the best environmental, social, and governance ratings according to Moody’s ESG Solutions, fell by 0.05% to 1,354.31 points.
In the mid and small-cap segment, the MASI Mid and Small Cap index saw a slight decrease of 0.03%, closing at 1,914.78 points.
On the international front, the reference indices from Casablanca also reported declines:
- The FTSE CSE Morocco 15 Index slipped by 0.31% to 18,926.81 points.
- The FTSE CSE Morocco All-Liquid Index, which reflects the overall performance of the most liquid securities, decreased by 0.29% to 17,075.21 points.
This downturn highlights a degree of caution among investors amid sector adjustments and a lack of short-term bullish catalysts.
