Casablanca Stock Exchange Opens Slightly Lower

The MASI Starts the Session in the Red
The Casablanca Stock Exchange opened Wednesday’s session on a slightly negative note. Its main index, the MASI, fell by 0.02% to settle at 18,939.35 points, indicating a cautious stance among investors.
Major Indices Drop
The MASI 20, which comprises the 20 most liquid stocks, decreased by 0.13% to 1,510.88 points. Meanwhile, the MASI ESG, which measures the performance of companies rated highest in environmental, social, and governance criteria according to Moody’s ESG Solutions, slipped by 0.07% to 1,266.06 points.
The MASI Mid and Small Cap, an index reflecting the performance of small and medium-sized capitalizations, recorded a more significant drop of 0.26% to 1,837.75 points.
BMCI and CFG Bank Among the Biggest Declines
On the stock front, BMCI suffered the steepest decline, falling by 4.46% to 610 dirhams, followed by CFG Bank (-2.17% to 243.6 DH), Résidences Dar Saada (-1.71% to 167.1 DH), Med Paper (-1.45% to 26.51 DH), and Stroc Industrie (-1.26% to 250 DH).
SMI and Afriquia Gaz Lead the Gains
Conversely, several stocks showed solid performances. SMI rose by 5.01% to 3,964 dirhams, followed by Maghreb Oxygène (+3.69% to 414.95 DH), Afriquia Gaz (+2.93% to 4,220 DH), AtlantaSanad (+2.43% to 145.45 DH), and Involys (+2.36% to 214.95 DH).
Closing Nearly Stable the Previous Day
As a reminder, the MASI closed Tuesday’s session nearly unchanged, recording a slight increase of 0.01%, reflecting the prevailing caution that continues to dominate the market.
