Celebrating the 18th Anniversary of Princess Lalla Khadija: A Symbol of the Union between the Throne and the People

Celebrating the Eighteenth Birthday of HRH Princess Lalla Khadija
On February 28, the Moroccan royal family and the entire nation come together to celebrate the eighteenth birthday of Her Royal Highness Princess Lalla Khadija. This occasion perfectly illustrates the strong bond between the throne and the various components of the nation, reinforcing the deep feelings of loyalty and affection that the Moroccan people hold for the Royal Family.
This event reminds us of the collective joy experienced on February 28, 2007, when the Royal Household announced the birth of HRH Princess Lalla Khadija. Her arrival brought immense happiness to the Royal House and to the entire nation, as she is the second child of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, following His Royal Highness Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan.
From the moment her birth was announced, a wave of joy and celebration swept across the country. The Moroccan people expressed their happiness through messages in the Gold Books opened at the Royal Protocol and Chancellery, as well as in provinces and cities across the nation. Towns were adorned with lanterns, flags, and colorful banners for the occasion. Members of the Moroccan community abroad, along with numerous political, diplomatic, cultural, sporting, and economic figures, also participated in the celebrations by visiting embassies and consulates to congratulate the Sovereign.
Families whose children were born on the same day as the Princess were honored with royal gifts during special receptions.
In addition to this celebration, the birthday of HRH Princess Lalla Khadija also serves as an opportunity to reflect on her early public life. In September 2011, at the Royal Palace’s Prince School in Rabat, she began her education under the watchful eye of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, who attended her first lessons of the Holy Quran, as well as her Arabic and French classes.
From a young age, Princess Lalla Khadija has actively participated in official activities, following the royal family tradition of initiating young princes and princesses into the roles and responsibilities they will assume later. In 2018, she took part in the ceremony presenting the evaluation of the education reform, and in 2019, she was present during the official welcome of the Sovereigns of Spain, King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia, as well as during the visit of Pope Francis.
The Princess also presided over the inauguration of the vivarium at the National Zoological Garden of Rabat in December 2019 and participated in the official ceremonies welcoming French President Emmanuel Macron in October 2023.
Thus, the eighteenth birthday of HRH Princess Lalla Khadija is not only a celebration but also an occasion for the Moroccan people to reaffirm their deep commitment to the Glorious Alaouite Throne and to stand alongside His Majesty King Mohammed VI in the successful implementation of the ambitious projects he leads for the service of the nation.
