CFC – Casablanca Finance City Strengthens Moroccan-Beninese Economic Cooperation in Cotonou
Cotonou hosted the second edition of the Casablanca Finance City (CFC) Tour on Monday and Tuesday, following a successful first tour in Senegal and Côte d’Ivoire. This initiative is part of a commitment to enhance intra-African economic synergies and contribute to the creation of a favorable environment for international investments on the continent.
As part of the CFC Africa Tour 2025, Casablanca Finance City organized a forum in collaboration with the Moroccan Embassy in Benin and the Beninese Agency for Investment and Export Promotion. The event brought together a Moroccan delegation, Moroccan business leaders operating in Benin, as well as public decision-makers, investors, and Beninese financial institutions.
A Strategic Forum to Strengthen Moroccan-Beninese Partnerships
In a speech delivered on his behalf, the Moroccan Ambassador to Benin, Rachid Rguibi, emphasized the importance of this forum, describing it as the first meeting of its kind between the two countries. According to him, this initiative provides a significant opportunity to strengthen coordination between Casablanca’s financial hub and the financial centers of West Africa, particularly that of Cotonou.
He also applauded Benin’s recent economic performances and the ongoing regulatory reforms, inviting both parties to continue their efforts in building more effective and sustainable synergies.
For his part, Hicham Chaoudri, Director of Institutional Affairs and African Partnerships at CFC, reiterated that this initiative fully aligns with the High Royal Directives aimed at enhancing Morocco’s economic integration within its African environment. He expressed hope that the economic operators from both countries would seize this opportunity to develop mutually beneficial collaborations.
A Strong Signal for the Beninese Economy
The Secretary General of the Beninese Ministry of Industry and Commerce highlighted the profound transformations currently taking place within the Beninese economy. He praised the forum’s holding, believing it will help consolidate economic and financial ties between Morocco and Benin.
The CFC delegation also met with high-ranking Beninese officials, including the Minister of Industry and Commerce, and conducted field visits, including one to the Gdiz industrial zone, a strategic hub for the country’s industrialization.
Significant Media Interest and Upcoming Steps
Participants unanimously expressed their satisfaction with the outcomes of this meeting, praising it as a “structuring” event likely to give new momentum to Moroccan-Beninese cooperation. The event also attracted significant media interest in Benin.
