CGEM Board Meeting Discusses Strategic Governance and Economic Reforms

On Wednesday, March 5, in Casablanca, the Board of Directors of the General Confederation of Moroccan Enterprises (CGEM) convened to address several strategic issues related to the governance of the employers’ organization and ongoing economic reforms.

The meeting was chaired by Chakib Alj, President of CGEM, and attended by members of the Board.

During this session, Board members reviewed various agenda items, including the presentation of the moral report for the 2025 fiscal year and the proposal for the financial statements for the same year.

The Board also approved the date and agenda for the next Ordinary Elective General Assembly (AGOE). Additionally, administrators appointed the members of the Committee responsible for overseeing the electoral process.

In his opening speech, Alj highlighted significant developments in the economic and regulatory environment. He specifically mentioned the strike law, the activation of provisions dedicated to very small, small, and medium enterprises (TPMEs) under the Investment Charter, the 2026 finance law, and reforms concerning the exchange rate regime.

The CGEM president emphasized efforts aimed at supporting businesses, especially TPMEs, in terms of financing, as well as initiatives to revitalize the Casablanca Stock Exchange.

The meeting also provided an opportunity to review several major reforms anticipated within the Moroccan economic ecosystem. Among these are the revision of the Labor Code, the reform of the vocational training system, and the reform of the pension system, all deemed critical projects for the national economy.

Following discussions, the Board of Directors approved the moral report and the financial statements for the 2025 fiscal year.

Members also confirmed the electoral calendar for the national presidency of CGEM. The call for candidates for the 2026-2029 term will be officially launched on March 11, 2026.

In accordance with the statutes of the employers’ organization, a meeting will be scheduled to validate the candidacies and finalize the list of candidates.

This list will subsequently be submitted for voting during the Ordinary Elective General Assembly scheduled for May 14, 2026.
