CHAN 2024: Sektioui rallies his troops ahead of the clash against Zambia

Moroccan Coach Tarik Sektioui Responds After Setback Against Kenya Ahead of Critical Match Against Zambia
After Morocco’s heavy defeat to Kenya in their opening match at the CHAN 2024, national coach Tarik Sektioui addressed the press on Wednesday, just one day before the crucial encounter with Zambia scheduled for Thursday.
“We have learned the necessary lessons from our setback against Kenya. Now, our objective is clear: to secure victory against Zambia and clinch those three points,” he stated with determination.
The Moroccan coach emphasized the importance of a swift and effective reassessment. “We reviewed our performance, identified our weaknesses, and have worked on correcting them. The team is ready to rise to the challenge and represent our national colors with dignity,” he declared.
Acknowledging the difficulty of the upcoming match, Sektioui reminded everyone that modern football leaves no room for complacency: “There are no small teams anymore. Every team has comparable technical resources and preparation. What makes the difference is mental strength and the right mindset.”
Reflecting on the performance against Kenya, he admitted to offensive shortcomings: “We lacked precision in the opposing box, particularly regarding timing and positioning.”
As a reminder, Morocco will face Zambia this Thursday, August 14, before concluding the group stage against the Democratic Republic of Congo on Sunday, August 17.
