CHAN: Morocco Advances to Quarterfinals After Victory Over DR Congo

The local team from Morocco secured its ticket to the quarter-finals of the African Nations Championship (CHAN) by defeating the Democratic Republic of Congo with a score of 3-1 on the fifth and final matchday of Group A. The match took place on Sunday at Nyayo Stadium in Nairobi.

The Atlas Lions achieved their victory with a brace from Oussama Lamlaoui (8th and 80th minutes) and a penalty converted by Mohamed Hrimat in the 70th minute. The only goal for the Congolese side was scored by Jephte Kitambala Bola in the 43rd minute.

With this victory, Morocco finished second in Group A with 9 points, just behind Kenya, which topped the group with 10 points after a narrow 1-0 victory over Zambia, courtesy of Ryan Ogam in the 75th minute.

In the quarter-finals, Morocco will face Tanzania this Friday at 6:00 PM in Dar es Salaam, aiming to reach the semi-finals of the tournament.
