CoDays 2025: Moroccan Oncology Between Scientific Innovation and Human Approach

The 16 November Oncology Clinic hosted national and international specialists on November 14 and 15 in Rabat for the 4th edition of CoDays, an essential event in the Moroccan scientific landscape. Under the theme “Cancer Care: Bridging Precision Medicine and Integrative Medicine”, the event underscored the emergence of an oncology model where technological innovation supports comprehensive and humanized patient care.

According to the organizers, this edition highlighted the importance of viewing precision medicine—targeted therapies, immunotherapies, oncogenomics, and artificial intelligence—as a tool that works in synergy with transversal approaches. Supportive care, psychological support, nutrition, and adapted physical activity were presented as essential components of modern and holistic care.

Placing Quality of Life at the Center of Patient Care

Speakers emphasized that therapeutic efficacy is not solely measured by clinical outcomes but also by the patient’s quality of life, which has become a key indicator throughout the oncology journey.

For Dr. Mounir Bachouchi, president of CoDays, “The oncology of tomorrow is not based on a dichotomy between technology and humanity, but rather on their ability to mutually reinforce each other.” He emphasized that scientific excellence must be paired with listening, adaptability, and genuine commitment to the patient: “To treat appropriately is to accompany a life trajectory, with its needs and uniqueness.”

High-Level Scientific Sessions and Concrete Advances

Over two days, renowned experts presented the latest therapeutic advances, combining scientific innovations with patient-centered approaches. Among the highlights was a roundtable discussion featuring doctors, institutional representatives, and social coverage stakeholders. The debates focused on adapting international guidelines in low- and middle-income countries, tackling a major challenge: ensuring equitable access to innovation without compromising the financial stability of health systems.

Symposia, organized in partnership with leading laboratories such as Pfizer, MSD, AstraZeneca, Roche, Servier, and Janssen, showcased new developments regarding breast, lung, prostate, and pancreatic cancers. Presentations provided the latest data, contextualizing it within Moroccan clinical practices.

Developing a Hybrid Moroccan Oncology Model

The discussions led to a clear consensus: Morocco possesses the clinical skills, scientific expertise, and political vision necessary to build a hybrid oncology model that integrates precision medicine with comprehensive support.

Several recommendations emerged, including:

  • Strengthening interdisciplinarity,
  • Expanding training in psycho-oncology,
  • Incorporating more real-world data into therapeutic evaluations.

Participants also emphasized the significance of a platform like CoDays for promoting national research, uniting public and private stakeholders, and structuring a shared vision for Moroccan oncology.

A Pivotal Edition Looking Towards the Future

With record participation, an ambitious program, and in-depth discussions surrounding the ethical, economic, and human challenges of modern oncology, this 4th edition solidifies CoDays as a reference space for reflection and innovation in the field.

The 16 November Oncology Clinic expressed gratitude to all speakers, partners, and participants who contributed to the success of the event, and looks forward to the next edition, continuing its dynamic dedication to excellence in oncology, close to the patient.
