The Toll from the Collapse of Two Buildings in Fez Rises
Local authorities in the Fez prefecture have announced a new provisional assessment of the tragedy that occurred in the Al Mostakbal neighborhood of the Al Massira district. The collapse of two four-story buildings, home to eight families, took place during the night of December 9–10, 2025, resulting in the deaths of 19 people and leaving 16 injured, with varying degrees of severity.
Immediate Mobilization of Rescue Efforts
Upon learning of the incident, local and security authorities, accompanied by Civil Protection teams, rushed to the scene to initiate search and rescue operations. A security perimeter was established around the affected buildings, while residents of nearby homes were evacuated as a precautionary measure to prevent any further risks.
Injured Individuals Receiving Care and Ongoing Searches
The injured have been transferred to the Fez University Hospital Center for necessary medical treatment and examinations. Search operations are still underway, with rescuers believing that more individuals may still be trapped beneath the rubble.
