Construction in Morocco: Expected Increase in Activity in 2026

The forecasts made by business leaders in the construction sector in Morocco for the first quarter of 2026 reveal an overall anticipated increase in activity, according to the latest data released by the High Commission for Planning (HCP).
Growth Driven by Building and Civil Engineering
This positive trend is primarily related to the expected increase in activity within the building construction and civil engineering sectors. Conversely, specialized construction work is projected to experience a slight downturn, as noted by the HCP in its report on the quarterly economic situation surveys.
Expected Employment Growth
The anticipated dynamics in the sector should also lead to an increase in employment numbers, confirming the strategic role of construction in job creation and the economic development of the Kingdom.
Improvement Already Observed at the End of 2025
The HCP further indicates that the construction sector recorded an increase in activity in the fourth quarter of 2025. This growth was driven by increased activity in the civil engineering and specialized construction sectors, while the activity in building construction remained relatively stable.
Order Books and Production Capacity
Order books for companies in the sector are reported to be at a normal level, while employment has experienced a stagnation during this period. Under these conditions, the capacity utilization rate (CUR) in construction stands at 69%.
Challenges Related to Supply and Cash Flow
Despite this positive momentum, some companies continue to face constraints. Specifically, 9% of companies in the sector reportedly encountered difficulty in sourcing raw materials in the fourth quarter of 2025.
Additionally, 31% of business leaders described their cash flow situation as challenging, highlighting ongoing financial difficulties.
Investments to Modernize Equipment
According to the HCP, 39% of construction sector companies made investments in 2025, primarily aimed at replacing and modernizing a portion of their equipment to enhance productivity and competitiveness.
