Cosumar Reaffirms Its Commitment to Food Sovereignty and “Made in Morocco”

During the 3rd edition of the National Industry Day, held on November 3 and 4 in Rabat, the Cosumar Group reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring the food sovereignty of the Kingdom and promoting "Made in Morocco." This event, held under the High Patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI and organized by the Ministry of Industry and Commerce in partnership with the CGEM, marked the official launch of the "Made in Morocco" label, which Cosumar hailed as a strategic initiative to enhance national production and Moroccan know-how.

A Industrial Pillar Supporting National Production

As a responsible company and a historical player in the sugar industry, Cosumar confirms its dedication to producing in Morocco, using Moroccan resources for the benefit of Moroccans. The Group emphasizes its role in:

  • Securing the national sugar supply,
  • Supporting a high-performing agricultural and industrial sector,
  • Promoting "Made in Morocco" as a lever for territorial development.

For nearly a century, Cosumar has based its growth on local production and the excellence of Moroccan expertise.

A Modern Industrial Capacity Focused on Export

Established in five major regions with seven sugar factories and two refineries—one of which in Sidi Bennour has been operational since 2024—Cosumar boasts an annual production capacity of 2.5 million tons of white sugar.

This setup ensures a stable supply for the national market while allowing Moroccan sugar to shine internationally. The Group exports nearly one million tons every year to over 80 destinations, outside of subsidies, thereby solidifying Morocco’s position among global players in the sector.

Cosumar also supplies the entire Moroccan agri-food industry with sugar, a vital input for national industrial competitiveness.

A Sustainable Agricultural Model Involving 80,000 Farmers

Cosumar’s sugar sector relies on an aggregation model involving 80,000 partner farmers. Aligned with national guidelines for food sovereignty and sustainability, this model is based on:

  • Multiannual contracts,
  • Structuring financial support,
  • Technical assistance provided by over 120 engineers and agricultural advisors.

Cosumar has also launched "Attaissir," a 100% Moroccan digital platform dedicated to crop monitoring, input management, and on-the-ground coordination. This solution also manages over 2,000 collection vehicles and agricultural equipment, enhancing traceability, operational efficiency, and transparency.

A Dynamic Ecosystem at the Heart of Rural Development

Surrounding the sugar industry are 374 SMEs specializing in agricultural inputs, mechanized work, and logistics. Through this ecosystem, Cosumar contributes nearly 3 billion dirhams annually to rural areas, strengthening social cohesion and stimulating territorial development.
