Dar es Salaam Hosts a Crucial CAF Meeting to Review Sanctions

All eyes are on Tanzania’s capital, Dar es-Salaam, which will host a pivotal meeting of the Executive Committee of the African Football Confederation (CAF) on February 13. This gathering, chaired by Patrice Motsepe, will focus on reviewing sensitive disciplinary cases and reassessing the regulations surrounding the sanctions imposed on the Moroccan and Senegalese national teams following the recent Africa Cup of Nations final.
In this context, Fouzi Lekjaa, president of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation, will submit an official request to postpone the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations to a later date. This request is due to a particularly busy national schedule, requiring the competition to conclude before May 15, allowing clubs to utilize sports facilities and participate in continental competitions.
This action also aims to ensure optimal conditions for the Lions of the Atlas as they engage in friendly matches in March and prepare for the upcoming 2026 World Cup. Therefore, it is essential to reorganize African competitions in the interest of national football and its infrastructure, which is expected to face significant pressure in the coming period.
