Economic Promotion Week 2024
Kenya-Morocco: Economic Promotion Week of the Republic of Kenya Launched in Morocco
The Economic Promotion Week of the Republic of Kenya was officially launched on Monday in Rabat, aiming to highlight Kenya’s economic potential across various sectors and to energize business partnerships between Moroccan and Kenyan operators. This initiative seeks to forge mutually beneficial relationships and enhance bilateral cooperation in the economic and trade realms.
The official launch was marked by a meeting between Mohamed Methqal, Ambassador and Director General of the Moroccan Agency for International Cooperation (AMCI), and a high-level economic delegation from Kenya, which is visiting Morocco from November 10 to 16. This meeting provided an opportunity to explore collaboration prospects and examine new avenues for development between the two nations.
This week of exchanges is part of a strategy fostered by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccans Abroad, aimed at supporting and strengthening the Kingdom’s economic diplomacy on the African continent. The AMCI, in collaboration with several institutional and economic partners, plays a crucial role in realizing this ambition.
Scheduled activities include a series of meetings in Rabat, Casablanca, and Laâyoune, engaging public institutions and private economic actors, notably the General Confederation of Moroccan Enterprises (CGEM), the Professional Group of Banks of Morocco (GPBM), Casablanca Finance City, along with its ecosystem of businesses, and the Regional Investment Center (CRI) of Laâyoune. These meetings aim to identify concrete investment opportunities and foster structural partnerships.
The Kenyan delegation is led by Carole Kariuki, Chief Executive Officer of the Kenya Private Sector Alliance (KEPSA), and Onditi Kennedy, National Director of the Kenya Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The delegation comprises senior officials from both the public and private sectors, reflecting Kenya’s commitment to strengthening its economic ties with Morocco.
This Economic Promotion Week serves as a strategic platform to stimulate new exchanges, encourage investment, and consolidate cooperation between two rapidly growing African economies.
