Eid al-Fitr: Exceptional Measures for the Benefit of Inmates to Strengthen Family Bonds

Special Measures for Inmates During Eid al-Fitr 1447 H
The General Delegation for Prison Administration and Reintegration has announced the implementation of exceptional measures for inmates in celebration of Eid al-Fitr 1447 H. This initiative aims to create a joyful atmosphere within correctional facilities and strengthen the family ties of the inmates.
In an official statement, the institution detailed that it has been decided to allow inmates to receive a “couffa” (a basket of provisions) from their authorized visitors. This measure also applies to foreign detainees, who will have the opportunity to receive these parcels through representatives of diplomatic and consular missions. The operation will commence from the second day of Eid and will be limited to a single occurrence, according to a schedule set by the prison administrations.
Furthermore, the Delegation assured that all necessary arrangements will be made to facilitate communication between inmates and their families, particularly to inform them about the conditions for delivering the couffa and its contents. This initiative aims to ensure that the process is conducted in an organized and secure manner.
In this context, the Delegation urges the families of inmates to act responsibly and contribute to the success of this initiative, while warning against any attempts to introduce items or substances that could compromise the security of the correctional facilities. It also emphasized that strict legal measures will be taken immediately in the event of any violations, including referral to the appropriate judicial authorities.
Additionally, the Delegation revealed the development of a special and varied food program for inmates across all correctional facilities, aligning with the spirit of Eid al-Fitr. This program is designed to bring joy and comfort to this population during the religious celebration.
