Friday’s Weather: Thunderstorms, Snowfall at Higher Elevations, and a Drop in Temperatures

The General Directorate of Meteorology predicts a weather pattern characterized by rain and occasional thunderstorms affecting several regions across the Kingdom. This includes areas such as Tangier, Loukkos, the Rif, as well as the Gharb and Saïss regions.
Additional precipitation, sometimes in the form of showers, is also expected in the High and Middle Atlas regions and the nearby Atlantic plains. The sky will largely remain overcast with rain forecasted for the Atlantic plains extending north of Essaouira.
Light Rain in the South and Snow in the Mountains
A few drops of rain could impact the Souss region and the northwest of the Southern provinces. Furthermore, snowfall is anticipated in the Atlas mountains starting at elevations of 1,600 meters, as well as in the Rif at 1,400 meters.
Strong gusts of wind, locally reaching high speeds, are also expected in the northern and central parts of the country, as well as in the Saharan provinces.
Cooling Temperatures and Turbulent Seas
Minimum temperatures will range from –3 to 5°C in the Atlas mountains, between 3 and 7°C in the Rif, high plateaus, and the eastern slopes of the Atlas. Near the coast, temperatures will vary from 14 to 17°C, while the rest of the Kingdom will see temperatures between 10 and 14°C. Maximum temperatures are expected to experience a noticeable drop throughout the day.
As for the state of the sea, it will be moderately to rough on the Mediterranean coast, strong to very strong in the Strait, and locally rough to strong to the east of the Strait. Between Cape Spartel and Tan-Tan, the sea will be strong to very strong, while it will remain moderately to rough between Tarfaya and Laâyoune, and rough to strong along the rest of the coastline.
