Hamza Igamane Secures Victory for the Rangers in the Glasgow Derby

A last-minute goal from Moroccan striker Hamza Igamane allowed the Rangers to hand Celtic their first home league defeat since December 2023, with a scoreline of 3-2 in a thrilling match on Sunday during the 30th round of the Scottish football championship.
The 22-year-old player secured the victory for the “Gers” with a powerful shot into the top corner in the 88th minute, just five minutes after coming onto the pitch. His teammates led 2-0 at halftime, thanks to goals from Nicolas Raskin and Mohamed Diomande, before Celtic leveled the match with strikes from Japanese internationals Daizen Maeda and Reo Hatate.
This remarkable performance celebrates Igamane’s first call-up to the Moroccan national team, as he was included on Friday in the list of 26 players announced by coach Walid Regragui in anticipation of the upcoming matches in Oujda against Niger on March 21 and Tanzania four days later, part of the qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup.
Despite this victory, the Rangers’ triumph at Celtic Park, their first there since 2020, does little to alter the landscape of the Scottish championship, which is still largely dominated by Celtic, who maintains a thirteen-point lead with eight matches remaining.
