Othmane Maamma Crowned African Young Player of the Year

Moroccan forward Othmane Maamma of Watford has been awarded the title of African Young Player of the Year. This honor adds to his accolades as the best player of the U20 World Cup, held last October in Chile, which was won by Morocco’s U20 team, the Lionceaux de l’Atlas.

Doha Madani Named African Young Player of the Year

Doha Madani, a member of AS FAR, has been recognized as the African Young Female Player of the Year. At just 20 years old, she is regarded as one of the brightest prospects in Moroccan and African women’s football.

Clement Mzize Wins Goal of the Year Award

Tanzanian player Clement Mzize (TP Mazembe) has won the Goal of the Year award for 2025. Moroccan players Oussama Lamlioui and Ghizlane Chebbak, captain of the Lionnes de l’Atlas, were also finalists for this prestigious prize.

U20 Lionceaux Named African Men’s National Team of the Year

After winning the U20 World Cup in Chile, the Lionceaux de l’Atlas have been awarded the African Men’s National Team of the Year title. Morocco clinched the world title on October 19 in Santiago, following a commanding 2-0 victory over Argentina. This historic achievement marks a new milestone in the rise of national football.

Yassine Bounou Named African Goalkeeper of the Year

Moroccan goalkeeper Yassine Bounou of Al-Hilal has been elected the African Goalkeeper of the Year 2025. He had an outstanding season with the Lions de l’Atlas and was also featured in the Best XI of the Club World Cup held in the United States.

Achraf Hakimi Celebrated as African Player of the Year 2025

The evening concluded with Achraf Hakimi being named African Player of the Year. The Paris Saint-Germain defender, European champion and a cornerstone of the Moroccan national team, secures this prestigious title for the first time at the age of 27.

Hakimi outperformed Egyptian star Mohamed Salah, a two-time winner, and Nigerian Victor Osimhen, the 2023 winner. Ranked 6th in the Ballon d’Or and previously awarded the Marc-Vivien Foé prize, Hakimi solidifies his status as a global benchmark in his position.
