Inauguration of a Fan Zone for an Immersive Experience at the CAN 2025 in Laayoune
In a vibrant atmosphere blending sports, culture, and entertainment, a Fan Zone was inaugurated on Sunday in Laâyoune in celebration of the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2025.
Initiated by the Moroccan National Tourism Office (ONMT) in partnership with the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) and in coordination with the municipality of Laâyoune, this Fan Zone, located within the sports village, offers live broadcasts of matches on a giant screen throughout the tournament, fostering a spirit of camaraderie and sharing.
Like other regions of the Kingdom, Laâyoune has embraced this playful and dynamic space, providing visitors with an immersive experience complete with various activities and entertainment for both young and old, including foosball tournaments, mini-soccer, and sub-soccer.
Before the official kick-off of AFCON, the audience was captivated by a spectacular light drone show, creating a memorable moment for the numerous spectators present.
Perfectly synchronized, this performance illuminated the starry sky with shapes and patterns inspired by football, crafting a stunning visual experience.
Another highlight of the Fan Zone’s opening ceremony was the performance by the group Fnaire, welcomed by the cheers of an enthusiastic and multi-generational audience.
Drawing from Morocco’s rich musical heritage, the group energized the crowd with their iconic hits, blending folk traditions with contemporary sounds for a vibrant and festive performance.
Additionally, the iconic Al Mechouar square transformed into a large gathering place, where supporters, donned in the Lions of the Atlas jerseys and waving national flags, eagerly awaited the match’s kick-off.
The same excitement is palpable in the already packed cafes. Wrapped in the national emblem, fans compete for the last available spots on terraces to immerse themselves in a lively and festive atmosphere.
Between crowded cafes, bustling public squares, and an energetic Fan Zone, Laâyoune promises an intense month of football, where each match will bring chants, cheers, and collective celebrations, turning the city into a true hub of AFCON 2025 fervor.
