Innovation: Morocco Rises 9 Places in the Global Innovation Index 2025

The 2025 edition of the Global Innovation Index (GII), published by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) in collaboration with Cornell University and INSEAD, highlights a notable advancement for Morocco, which has moved up from 66th to 57th place out of a total of 139 evaluated economies.
The Kingdom is thereby consolidating its position on the international stage in terms of innovation, ranking:
Morocco particularly stands out in the field of intangible assets, achieving 17th place globally. Among its best performances are:
6th place for design registrations relative to GDP and origin;
24th place for trademark registrations;
50th place for international patent applications filed under the Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT).
It is worth remembering that the GII is a global benchmarking tool, established in 2007, that measures the innovation capabilities and performance of countries through an analysis of 80 indicators covering six main pillars: institutions, human capital and research, infrastructure, business sophistication, knowledge and technology production, and creative production.
