Intense Cold: National Mobilization Across 28 Provinces

Aid Deployed in 28 Prefectures and Provinces

Substantial human and logistical resources have been mobilized to assist populations affected by the cold wave across 28 prefectures and provinces of the Kingdom. This operation encompasses 243 municipalities, spread over 2,018 localities and villages, according to data released by the Ministry of the Interior.

Areas Primarily Located at High Altitudes

Official figures indicate that 1,482 localities, or 73.4% of the total, are situated at altitudes between 1,500 and 2,499 meters, while 29 localities, representing 1.4%, lie above 2,500 meters. This significantly intensifies the impact of the harsh weather conditions.

Support for Vulnerable Populations

Special attention is being given to the most vulnerable groups. The initiatives being implemented specifically target 665 homeless individuals, 2,790 pregnant women, and 18,722 elderly individuals as part of a coordinated effort to mitigate health and social risks associated with the extreme cold.

Distribution of Firewood and Equipment

In this context, plans are in place to distribute approximately 4,540 tons of firewood and 10,421 improved stoves. This operation is being conducted in coordination with the National Agency for Water and Forests, as well as the Ministries of National Education, Preschool and Sports, and Health and Social Protection.

Enhanced Snow Removal Measures

At the same time, 1,024 snow removal vehicles have been mobilized, in coordination with the Ministry of Equipment and Water. These resources have been pre-positioned along exposed roadways to ensure rapid interventions and prevent any risk of isolating affected areas.
