Iranian Threats Against Military Vessels in Hormuz

The Iranian Revolutionary Guards, the ideological military arm of Iran, have announced that they will respond “severely” to any attempts by military ships to transit the Strait of Hormuz.
Direct Threats Against Military Presence
In a statement relayed by state television Irib, the naval command of the Revolutionary Guards asserted that they have “total authority” to control this strategic passage.
They also specified that traffic in the strait would now be “reserved for civilian vessels under specific conditions.”
These threats come after the announcement from the U.S. Central Command regarding the passage of two Navy warships through the strait.
According to this source, these military vessels were tasked with neutralizing sea mines placed by Iran.
A Strategic Point Under High Tension
The Strait of Hormuz is one of the most important maritime passages in the world, through which a significant portion of global oil trade flows.
Any escalation in this sensitive area could have major repercussions on maritime security and international energy markets.
Risk of Military Escalation
The rising tensions between Iran and the United States raise concerns about a potential new escalation in the region, as diplomatic efforts struggle to yield results.
