Islamic Solidarity Games: Moroccan Athlete Salaheddine Ben Yazide Claims Gold in 3000m Steeplechase
Moroccan athlete Salaheddine Ben Yazide clinched the gold medal in the 3000 meters steeplechase on Monday evening during the athletics events of the sixth edition of the Islamic Solidarity Games, held in the Saudi capital, Riyadh.
Ben Yazide completed the race with a time of 8 minutes and 51.64 seconds.
The silver medal was awarded to Djiboutian athlete Mohamed Ismail Ibrahim, who finished with a time of 8:51.89, while Algerian Omar Seraich took bronze with a time of 8:51.96.
Following his victory, Ben Yazide expressed his joy, emphasizing that he managed to pace himself effectively throughout the race, maintaining his rhythm until crossing the finish line, which secured him the top spot.
He noted that the race was challenging and marked by intense competition, especially in the final meters, which were characterized by a rapid pace.
With this win, Morocco has now amassed a total of 16 medals at the Games, consisting of 8 gold, 2 silver, and 6 bronze, currently positioning the nation in seventh place on the medal table.
