José Mourinho faces a risk of up to 10 matches suspension following an incident with Okan Buruk.

José Mourinho, the coach of Fenerbahçe, could face a suspension of up to 10 matches following a controversial gesture directed at Okan Buruk, the coach of Galatasaray. This incident occurred on Wednesday night after a fiercely contested derby between the two teams, which Galatasaray won thanks to a brace from Victor Osimhen.

During a skirmish between the coaching staffs in stoppage time, which led to the expulsion of Fenerbahçe players Mert Yandas, as well as Galatasaray’s Kerem Demirbay and Baris Yilmaz, Mourinho lost his temper. After the final whistle, while both coaches were discussing the match with officials at the center of the pitch, Mourinho approached Buruk from behind and pinched his nose, causing the Galatasaray coach to stumble, with his hands on his face.

Galatasaray’s vice-president, Metin Ozturk, strongly condemned this act, labeling Mourinho’s gesture as “physical aggression.” He also suggested that the Portuguese manager might face sanctions from Fenerbahçe.

The disciplinary committee, which has taken up the incident, has two options for sanctioning Mourinho. If his act is deemed “unsportsmanlike conduct,” he could receive a suspension of 1 to 3 matches, along with a fine ranging from 50,000 to 500,000 Turkish lira (approximately 1,200 to 12,000 euros). However, if the act is classified as “aggression,” the penalty could be significantly harsher, with a possible suspension of 5 to 10 matches.
