Kuwait’s Power, Water, and Renewable Energy Ministry Reports Iranian Attack on Vital Facility

On April 3, 2026, the Kuwaiti Ministry of Electricity, Water, and Renewable Energy announced that one of its facilities, which combines electricity generation and water desalination, was targeted in an Iranian attack overnight, resulting in material damage.

According to the Kuwaiti news agency, ministry spokesperson Fatima Hayat stated, “One of the power and desalination plants was attacked this morning in an Iranian aggression, causing material damage to certain components of the facility.”

Technical Teams Respond to Ensure Service Continuity

Technical teams and emergency services were immediately deployed to manage the aftermath of the incident and to ensure the continuation of operations. The ministry emphasized that the safety and stability of the electrical grid and the water supply are top priorities, with all technical personnel working around the clock to anticipate any unforeseen circumstances and maintain essential services.

Since February 28, Kuwait, like other Arab countries, has been subjected to regular attacks involving ballistic missiles and drones amid the geopolitical tensions shaking the region.
