Lakes in the Loukkos Basin Show Fill Rate Exceeding 94%

Significant Increase in Water Reserves
The water reserves in the dams managed by the Loukkos Hydraulic Basin Agency have reached an impressive filling rate of 94.2%, confirming a significant improvement in the water situation in the northern part of the Kingdom.
According to data published on the platform “Maa dialna,” under the Ministry of Equipment and Water, the total volume of reserves in the dams located in the Tanger-Tétouan-Al Hoceïma region stands at 1.802.6 million cubic meters as of February 16.
Seven Dams at 100% Capacity
Seven dams are currently reported to be at full capacity (100%). These are:
Oued El Makhazine Dam: 672.8 million m³
Charif Al Idrissi Dam: 121.6 million m³
Smir Dam: 38.9 million m³
Ibn Battouta Dam: 29.1 million m³
Moulay El Hassan Ben El Mahdi Dam: 23.4 million m³
Chefchaouen Dam: 12.2 million m³
Nakhla Dam: 4.2 million m³
These figures reflect a notable improvement in water resources, attributed to the significant rainfall recorded in recent weeks.
Three Dams Exceeding 95% Capacity
Additionally, three other hydraulic infrastructures report filling rates above 95%:
Dar Khrofa Dam: 98% (472.7 million m³)
Kharroub Dam: 97% (184.1 million m³)
Tanger Med Dam: 95% (21 million m³)
Improving Levels in Other Dams
Other dams in the region are also showing significant progress:
9 Avril 1947 Dam: 71% (213.8 million m³)
Mohamed Ben Abdelkrim Al Khattabi Dam: 57% (6.8 million m³)
Joumoua Dam: 30% (1.5 million m³)
These indicators confirm the positive impact of recent rainfall on the regional water situation.
Over 11.8 Billion m³ Nationwide
On a national scale, the total reserves of major dams exceed 11,833 million cubic meters, corresponding to a filling rate of approximately 70.6%, according to the “Maa dialna” platform.
This data reinforces the prospects for improved water security in the country while highlighting the need to continue sustainable water management efforts.
