Launch of the National MOOC to Train Future Instructors
New MOOC for Teacher Training in Morocco
MOOC: The Ministry of National Education, Preschool, and Sports officially launched an e-learning MOOC program dedicated to training teacher trainers on Thursday in Rabat. This initiative is undertaken in partnership with the “Learning” program of the Agency of Francophone Universities (AUF).
Hosted on the digital platform e-Takwine, this MOOC provides trainers from national training centers (CRMEF, CFIE, COPE) with an interactive, flexible, and fully online learning path. Its goal is to enhance their professional skills, encourage pedagogical innovation, and harmonize training practices nationwide.
Supported by the French Development Agency (AFD), this program marks the culmination of the digitalization project of the “Practical Guide for Teacher Trainers in Morocco”, developed in collaboration with experts from the ministry, the “Learning” program, and the Canopé Network (France).
During the opening session, interim Secretary General of the ministry, Houssine Kodad, emphasized that this initiative represents a turning point in the transformation of teacher training and the consolidation of a culture of excellence within educational institutions. He reminded attendees that the 2022-2026 Roadmap prioritizes the qualification of teachers as a national priority, a crucial step to ensure quality education and sustainable improvement of public schooling.
According to Mr. Kodad, this MOOC encourages the sharing of practices, promotes the dissemination of pedagogical innovations, and strengthens equitable access to training. It also advocates for a collaborative, reflective, and impact-oriented approach, serving a national community of expert trainers.
The initiative will help standardize training methods and develop key competencies in training engineering, assessment, and professional support, thereby fostering a culture of quality assurance.
On his part, Nouredine El Mazouni, interim director of the National Teaching Center (CNP), noted that this MOOC comes at a crucial time marked by mass recruitment of new trainers who need to be prepared for the demands of the new training engineering. He recalled that teachers are the cornerstone of improving learning outcomes, which gives this program strategic importance.
For Giovanni Agresti, regional director of AUF-North Africa, the “Learning” program is among the major projects supported by AUF. He stressed that the development of a country largely depends on the quality of its educational system. He added that Morocco is experiencing notable progress in its material and immaterial infrastructures, necessitating a well-trained youth to support this national dynamic.
