Manufacturing Industry in Morocco: Production Growth by the End of 2025

The production index for Morocco’s non-oil refining manufacturing industries recorded a 4% increase in the fourth quarter of 2025, compared to the same period in 2024. This data comes from the High Commission for Planning (HCP), which regularly publishes indicators related to national industrial activity.
This positive development reflects the dynamics observed across several industrial sectors, thereby contributing to the strengthening of manufacturing activity towards the end of 2025.
Significant Growth in Various Industrial Sectors
According to a report from the HCP concerning the Industrial, Energy, and Mining Production Index (IPIEM), this growth is primarily driven by improved performance in several key sectors.
Among the branches that experienced the most significant increases are:
the food industries, with an increase of 9.9%;
the pharmaceutical industry, which showed a strong increase of 28.9%;
the manufacturing of metal products (excluding machinery and equipment), up by 14.5%;
the manufacturing of other non-metallic mineral products, which rose by 4.8%;
the manufacturing of other transport equipment, with a notable increase of 37.1%;
the manufacturing of tobacco products, which grew by 4.7%.
These performances demonstrate the vitality of certain industrial sectors that continue to support national manufacturing production.
Declines in Certain Industrial Segments
Conversely, several sectors recorded a contraction in their production during the same period.
This is particularly true for:
the automotive industry, whose index fell by 6.2%;
the clothing industry, down by 4.7%;
the manufacturing of computer, electronic, and optical products, which decreased by 12.6%;
the manufacturing of electrical equipment, down by 2.3%;
other manufacturing industries, which experienced a more marked decline of 15.4%.
These sectorial variations reflect disparities in performance among the various branches of the national industry.
Decrease in Production within Extractive Industries
Furthermore, the production index for extractive industries registered a 4.4% decline in the fourth quarter of 2025.
This change is primarily due to a 4.6% decrease in the production index of miscellaneous extractive industry products, despite a slight increase of 0.7% observed in metal ores.
Increase in Electric Energy Production
On the other hand, the production index for electric energy rose by 2.8% during the same period, confirming a positive trend in the energy sector.
Annual Summary: Overall Growth in 2025
For the entire year of 2025, the production indices showed a globally positive trend compared to 2024:
+7% for extractive industries;
+4.1% for the manufacturing industry excluding oil refining;
+6.3% for electric energy production.
These results illustrate an overall favorable trend in industrial activity in Morocco, despite some disparities between sectors.
