Maritime Transport: GNV Expands Its Connections Between Morocco and Spain

Grandi Navi Veloci Strengthens Maritime Links Between Spain and Morocco

Grandi Navi Veloci (GNV), the ferry company, has announced enhancements to its maritime routes connecting Spain and Morocco, with the launch of new ships set for next summer.

This initiative aims to improve maritime connectivity between the two countries, particularly through the introduction of more modern and higher-capacity vessels on routes linking Spanish and Moroccan ports. GNV, a subsidiary of the MSC Group and one of the leading ferry operators in Western Mediterranean waters, emphasized this commitment in a recent statement.

During the 2026 International Tourism Fair in Madrid (FITUR), GNV’s CEO, Matteo Catani, highlighted that the company is closely collaborating with relevant authorities to ensure the regular operation of these new units starting next summer. He noted that the strategy focuses on operational efficiency and environmental sustainability.

Catani also stressed the importance of cooperation with port authorities, both Spanish and Moroccan, as well as diplomatic and ministerial institutions, to enhance port infrastructure and services, thereby strengthening maritime transport systems.

“The new vessels are expected to improve transport conditions for passengers, notably for Moroccans living abroad, while promoting the development of low-impact maritime corridors,” he explained.

Furthermore, Catani mentioned that the relevant authorities, in coordination with GNV’s technical teams, are working to establish the necessary conditions to ensure regular operations—especially with the port of Tangier Med—beginning next summer.

Founded in 1992 and a member of the MSC Group, GNV operates 33 maritime routes across eight countries, including Italy, Spain, France, Albania, Tunisia, Morocco, and Malta.
