Marrakech Hosts the 2026 World GISS Symposium

Under the High Patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God assist Him, the Ministry of Transport and Logistics, in partnership with the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), will host the 5th edition of the ICAO Global Implementation Support Symposium (GISS).
This major international event will take place from April 14 to 16, 2026, in the city of Marrakech, under the theme: “Regional Solutions, Global Benefits”.
High-Level International Participation
The symposium will bring together approximately 1,500 participants, including 40 ministers, 60 directors general from civil aviation authorities, as well as representatives from international organizations, financial institutions, and numerous experts from the global aviation industry.
This strong engagement underscores the growing importance of this event in the development of civil aviation policies on an international scale.
A Strategic Platform for Air Cooperation
The GISS 2026 is part of ongoing efforts to enhance international cooperation and support the implementation of ICAO standards and policies.
It also aligns with the “No Country Left Behind” initiative, aimed at ensuring a global harmonization of civil aviation standards.
A Comprehensive Program Addressing Industry Challenges
The program for this edition will feature a high-level opening ceremony, followed by a ministerial roundtable.
Several thematic panels will be organized to tackle major challenges facing the aviation sector, including:
- Air connectivity
- Air safety with the goal of “zero fatalities”
- Aviation financing
- Strengthening regional mechanisms
- Development of airport infrastructure
- Training and skill development for talent
Morocco Confirms Its Role as a Regional Air Hub
By hosting this international event, the Kingdom of Morocco reaffirms its commitment to a safe, sustainable, and inclusive civil aviation sector.
This initiative also reinforces the country’s position as a regional air hub and a key player in international air transport, confirming its strategic role in the development of the sector on a global scale.
