President of the House of Representatives Engages in Talks in Vietnam
Rachid Talbi El Alami, the President of the House of Representatives, held discussions on Tuesday in Can Tho, Socialist Republic of Vietnam, with Tran Thanh Man, the President of the Vietnamese National Assembly, as well as with Minh Hoan Lê, the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development. These talks took place on the sidelines of the Assemblée parlementaire de la Francophonie (APF), which is being held from January 21 to 24, with Talbi El Alami participating, according to a statement from the House of Representatives.
The discussions focused on the historical relations between the two nations and highlighted major projects initiated by the Kingdom of Morocco under the leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI. Among these initiatives are efforts in sectors such as agricultural development, renewable energy, food security, and combating climate change.
The two sides also addressed the issue of bilateral parliamentary relations, emphasizing the importance of strengthening these ties with a mutual respect for state sovereignty and non-interference in internal affairs. They stressed the necessity of promoting ongoing communication and regular exchanges between parliamentarians of both countries, while encouraging mutual visits and sharing experiences between their legislative institutions. A key point was the coordination of efforts in regional and international parliamentary forums, in line with the cooperation agreement signed between the two institutions in December 2017.
During his meeting with the Vietnamese Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, discussions revolved around the significance of this sector in the economies of both nations. Talbi El Alami highlighted Morocco’s achievements in agriculture, renewable energy, climate change mitigation, and food and water security. He also reiterated the essential role of the House of Representatives in supporting these initiatives through legislation, oversight, and public policy evaluation, as stated in the 2011 Constitution.
Also participating in these discussions were Latifa Lablih, representative of the Parliamentary Network of Francophone Women of the APF, Jamale Chouaibi, Morocco’s ambassador to Vietnam, and Ahmed Ait Aissa, minister plenipotentiary at the Kingdom’s embassy in Hanoi.
