Moroccan Teacher Messaoud Ariba Honored at 2024 Global Teacher Awards in New Delhi

On Saturday, Moroccan educator Messaoud Ariba was awarded at the 2024 Global Teacher Awards in New Delhi, an annual international event celebrating educational excellence. This prestigious award highlights exceptional educators from around the globe for their significant contributions to teaching.

Mr. Ariba, a teacher at Ibnou Aachir School in Taroudant, is the sole laureate from the Arab world and North Africa among the distinguished recipients this year. He was selected from thousands of applications submitted from diverse backgrounds, as part of this event organized by AKS Education, an Indian company specializing in educational research.

In a statement to MAP, Mr. Ariba expressed his honor and joy at receiving this recognition, emphasizing that it is the result of 25 years of hard work and dedication to education. He also dedicated this award to all those involved in the education sector in Morocco who contribute to the development of learning.

Since 1998, Mr. Ariba has been committed to enhancing learning, particularly in mathematics, through a playful approach that makes the subject more accessible and less intimidating for students. His award-winning project, Math Kids, transforms the teaching of mathematics in primary education into a theatrical experience, allowing students to grasp mathematical concepts through games and theatrical activities.

He has also adapted the subject "Scientific Activity" for primary levels into three plays, making learning more dynamic and interactive. Mr. Ariba views school theater as a powerful educational tool that helps stimulate learning and develop students’ skills.

The Global Teacher Awards aim to honor teachers who stand out for their excellence and impact on students and the community, extending beyond the classroom. These awards celebrate the crucial role educators play in building a more supportive society and their positive influence on future generations.
