Monday’s Weather Forecast: Continued Rain and Snow in Mountain Areas

The General Directorate of Meteorology forecasts a continuation of rain and thunderstorms, which may be significant in certain areas, particularly in the Rif, the Tanger region, Loukkos, Gharb, and Saïss.

Rain and Snowfall in the Mountains

Occasional rainfall is also expected in the High and Middle Atlas mountain ranges, in Oulmès, across the northern plains, as well as along the eastern Mediterranean coast and northern Oriental region. Light and scattered rain might affect the central plains, the Souss region, and the southern parts of Oriental, while snowfall is anticipated in the peaks of the High and Middle Atlas.

Strong Winds and Dust Storms

Strong wind gusts are expected in the northwest of the country, including the Rif, Saïss, Oulmès, the Atlas mountains, Oriental, and the northern provinces of the south. Additionally, local and weak dust storms may be observed in the extreme south of the country and southern Oriental region.

Slight Rise in Temperatures in the North

Minimum temperatures will range from -2 to 4°C in the Atlas mountains, from 3 to 9°C in the Rif and high plateaus, and from 13 to 16°C in the extreme south, southeast, northwest of the Saharan provinces, in Souss, the Moulouya valley, and near the coast. They will vary between 9 and 13°C in the rest of the country.

Maximum temperatures will see an increase in the northwest, the Mediterranean coast, Oriental, central areas, and eastern provinces of the south, while remaining stable or slightly decreasing elsewhere.

Sea Conditions

The sea will be slightly to moderately rough in the Mediterranean, rough to very rough in the strait, becoming slightly to moderately rough in the afternoon. It will be rough to very rough between Cap Spartel and Tarfaya, slightly to moderately rough between Tarfaya and Laâyoune, and rough to very rough south of Laâyoune.
