Moroccan Cinema Honored at the 41st Edition of the “Vues d’Afrique” Festival in Montreal

The 41st edition of the International Film Festival Vues d’Afrique opened on Thursday in Montreal, welcoming numerous countries, including Morocco.
This year, Moroccan cinema is represented by the film Triple A, directed by Jihane El Bahhar, which is competing in the feature film category. The film intertwines three love stories featuring marginalized protagonists whose paths cross in unexpected ways. Triple A is a dramedy that explores the quest for dignity and affection among its characters, while shedding light on the harsh realities of poverty and celebrating love, all while highlighting the paradoxes of the human condition.
The film has already garnered several accolades, including the Best Foreign Film award at the Soho International Film Festival in the United States, the Audience Award at the Maghreb Film Festival in Haarlem (Netherlands), and the Jury Award at the International Festival of Naples in Italy. It has also been selected for the official competition at the Salerno Festival (Italy) and was showcased at the Marrakech International Film Festival in 2023 as part of the Moroccan Cinema Panorama.
The Vues d’Afrique Festival aims to raise awareness of the realities and cultures of African countries and major Francophone diasporas, strengthen exchanges with audiovisual professionals, and develop cultural partnerships between Canada and Southern countries. This edition, which runs until April 13, features over 120 films and TV series from 32 countries, as well as conferences discussing themes such as gender equality, sustainable development, and human rights.
